Artesyn Embedded Technologies Announces New Series of 20W High Density DC-DC Converters for Industrial and Rugged Applications
Artesyn Embedded Technologies, formerly Emerson Network Power’s Embedded Computing & Power business, announced the new AXA series of compact 20 W high power density dc-dc converters designed to be used in applications such as battery-operated equipment, instrumentation, distributed power architectures in communications and industrial electronics and other space critical-applications. A fully potted and metal cased construction makes the Artesyn AXA series an ideal choice for harsh environments and enables the modules to operate between minus 40 and plus 85 degrees Celsius. An optional clip-on heat sink is available to extend the thermal performance of the unit in a convection or forced-air environment.

Toshiba Wins Major Order for Retrofitof Ottumwa Thermal Power Plant in the U.S.
Toshiba Corporation (Tokyo: 6502) today announced that its United States subsidiary in the thermal power generation business, Toshiba International Corporation (TIC), has won a major retrofit order from U.S.-based Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc. for the supply and installation of components for a steam turbine renewal and the winding of a generator stator coil. All key equipment will be supplied by Toshiba Corporation. TIC, as prime contractor, will start installation and winding work in September 2014 and the order will be completed by the end of 2014.
