Hyland Software has announced a deal which will see the content services vendor acquire direct competitors Alfresco, expected to close some time later in 2020.
Hyland Software has been a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for the past decade, and both companies are listed as Leaders in the Forrester Wave ECM Content Platforms Q3, 2019. Hyland lists 'more than half' of the 2019 Fortune 100 companies as customers, and has over 3,000 staff globally.
The company also recently announced the acquisition of Another Monday, a German-owned development company for RPA solutions.
Headquartered in Boston, Alfresco develops a modern, cloud-native Digital Business Platform that delivers content services solutions to connect, manage and protect organisations’ information. Upon transaction close, the entire Alfresco business is expected to be managed under Hyland Software, Inc.
In the APAC region, Hyland has offices in Sydney and Singapore, with representatiojn in most countries including Japan.

As an open source platform, Alfresco has created and nurtured a community of partners and developers, who it seems will continue to be an important part of the new entity’s plans moving forward.
In an open letter, Priemer has stated: “We’re also excited to develop new partnerships and engage with Alfresco’s open source community as a source of product innovation.”
