How to Root Your Android Phone: a simple one-click process

how to root

In our previous articles, we have taken a look at rooting your android phone. I hope that you fully understood what root is, the legal issues of rooting as well as its benefits and disadvantages.

Now that you are still here reading this article, we will take a hands-on approach on how to perform rooting on your phone. Since you got this far, you should know that apart from the benefits that comes with rooting, there are also two major disadvantages which is one; you can brick your phone and make it unusable and two; you could be voiding your phone’s warranty.

Note from editor - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

There’s actually a number of ways to root your phone, there’s the long way with lots of steps or there’s just a simple "one click application" that you can use. And since both are found to be successful in rooting the phone, we will go with the simple version.

Credit goes to Kingo for coming up with this great app which can root your phone with just one-click. And below is the list of manufacturers supported by this app:

  1. Google
  2. HTC
  3. Motorola
  4. Samsung
  5. LG
  6. Sony
  7. Huawei
  8. Alcatel
  9. Micromax
  10. Acer

For an extensive full list of devices which can use this app, you can refer here.

All you need to do is download the application, install it on your Windows computer, connect your device to your computer with a USB cable and click Root.

The only thing you need to make sure is to set your phone setting to have USB Debugging enabled. And once you connect your phone, unless all the drivers are installed correctly, only then will the Root option appear.

root step 1

There are very few things that you need to be mindful of. When connecting your device, you need to have USB Debugging enabled in Android settings. There’s no requirement for pre-installed device drivers, as the software will take care of that for you. In fact, it will give you the Root option only after the drivers have been properly configured. Once that is done, all you have to do is hit the Root button, and let the application work its magic.

root step 2

Once it finishes the installation, you may find the SuperSU binaries are quite outdated, but Google Play will automatically update that for you. And then once it’s done, you will be notified that your phone was successfully rooted and proceed to reboot your phone. How easy is that?

root step 3

The Kingo Root app supports up to Android Jelly Bean 4.3 and you may download it here:

So there you have it, a very simple one-click app and you’re all rooted. Unless something really bad happens for example a power outage during the process (which is very very rare by the way), then this is the best way to root your phone, just click and you’re done.

Now enjoy your rooted phone and in the next article, we will take a look at some of the great apps you may utilize. Stay tuned.
